Shaz is an occasional barmaid at the local tavern in the mages town of Krakatos. In appearance, she is a pretty young woman, with long black hair and a ready smile.

This smile hides a secret. At an early age, her parents were killed by undead, and her dreams are haunted by the creatures. To counter her nightmares, she has taken up the study of undead, specifically necromancy. Her spells always deal with the destruction of undead, never with the creation or controlling of undead. To signify her role as an necromancer undead slayer, she wears black robes with a white arm band. The black robes are traditional for necromancers, while the white arm band is the reverse of the black arm band worn by those in mourning. She deals out life, not death.

Shaz is not well thought of by the other necromancers at the scholl, who see her as a threat to their existance. She is quite talented though, and surpasses many of them in the art of magic. Her refusal to perform some of the more macabre experiments means that her marks were not as high as they should be. She worked at the bar as a student to afford to study, and still works there occasionally to pick up rumours and leads.

Shaz was recently married to Taran, a cleric of Athena. He is attached to the temple of Athena in Mistmoor, under Deacon Thalla.

While adventuring in a set of catacombs under Specularum (Mirros), she encountered a nosferatu vampire, attracted by her beauty. She battled it alone, and just as help arrived it struck her down with a cruel blow to the stomach. The vampire fled, and she was healed. Her unborn child was not. Since that day, Shaz has become even more relentless in her hunt for undead.
