Garan is a paladin in service to Sir Lighthaft. He is in command of a company of mercenaries. He is married to Jokana, a priestess of Diulanna from the Hinterlands.

She miscast a spell, and they are now soul-linked. They share each others sensations, sharing minds and dreams.
